The Vila Real de Santo António Sports Complex hosts, on the 15th and 16th of June, the National Outdoor Track Championship.

This annual event, organized by the National Association of Veteran Athletics and the Portuguese Athletics Federation, in partnership with the Municipality of Vila Real de Santo António, brings together veteran athletes from across the country.

The Championship is one of the most important competitions on the national sporting calendar for athletes aged 35 and over. Participants will compete in various disciplines, including sprint races, middle distance, long distance, jumping and throwing. The event stands out for its high level of demand and the age diversity of the athletes.

The program starts on Saturday, June 15th, at 10:30 am, with several tests throughout the day. On Sunday, the 16th, the competitions resume at 9:00 am and end at 17:30 pm, followed by the prize giving ceremony.

The main objective of the championship is to promote the practice of athletics among veteran athletes, encouraging the continuation of sporting activity throughout their lives. Furthermore, it provides a platform for these athletes to share experiences, reinforcing the spirit of camaraderie and sportsmanship.

The event is expected to bring together around 600 participants, as well as a large number of spectators, including family, friends and athletics enthusiasts.

The 2024 Masters National Athletics Championship promises a weekend of intense competition and celebration of sport.
