European Anti-Poverty Network has new facilities in Faro

The new space of the District Center of Faro is located on Rua Libânio Martins

The new facilities of EAPN Portugal / European Anti-Poverty Network in Faro are inaugurated this Thursday, June 13th. 

The new space of the District Center of Faro It is located on Rua Libânio Martins.

The inauguration will be attended by Monsignor Jardim Moreira, president of EAPN Portugal, Helena Gomes, president of the Board of the General Council of the District Center of Faro, Carlos Baía, councilor of the Chamber of Faro, Margarida Flores, director of the District Center of Faro of Social Security, and D. Manuel Quintas, bishop of the Algarve.

A round table is also planned on combating poverty in the region. The National Observatory for the Fight against Poverty of EAPN Portugal, Joaquim Brandão Pires, from AMAL, Patrícia Neto Martins, from CCDR Algarve / ALGARVE 2030 Program, and António Fragoso, from the University of Algarve, participate.

The organization has a nucleus in each district of the country and one in the Autonomous Region of Madeira. The District Center of Faro EAPN Portugal began its activity in July 2002.

«Since 2002, we have sought to be, in Faro, a different response to the problems of institutions and people who find themselves in situations of poverty and/or social exclusion. We based our work on the conviction that the phenomenon of poverty and social exclusion has many faces and we must be attentive to the changes that occur in territories to anticipate solutions and new models of intervention», says the president of the organization.
