Tavira Municipal Museum promotes guided tour of the “Balsa, Roman City” exhibition

Registration is open until June 20th

The Municipal Museum of Tavira promotes, on the 22nd of June, at 10:30 am, a guided tour of the exhibition “Balsa, Roman City”, under the guidance of João Pedro Bernardes, from the University of Algarve, scientific commissioner of the exhibition, and the architect Célia Anica, responsible for the museum project.

«On display at Palácio da Galeria, the exhibition “Balsa, Roman City” provides a journey of 2000 years, to the time when it flourished, next to the banks of the Ria Formosa, the city that became the capital of a municipium Roman», highlights the Câmara de Tavira.

«Across ten rooms and through an exhibition based on around 100 pieces from various national museums, we will learn about various aspects linked to the origin and evolution of that city, as well as its main economic activities, eating habits and daily life of its inhabitants. We also have the opportunity to learn about the names of some Balsa citizens and their professional positions, their concerns about health, beauty and religion or the funeral rituals practiced by some of them at the time of the death of their loved ones, whose names, engraved in stones , remained eternal until our days», adds the municipality.

Those interested in participating (maximum 15 people) must register by June 20th through this link.
