The Prime Minister announced today that the Government will ensure that there is mandatory “in all State departments” a daily service, in person and without appointment.
At the end of the Council of Ministers meeting, in which a document entitled “First phase of the Public Administration Reform” was presented, Luís Montenegro defended the need for a “more balanced response between services by appointment and face-to-face services”.
“Since the time of the pandemic, in many public offices life has become more difficult for citizens, who often find themselves in services without available in-person service, others with appointments that take a long time,” he stated.
Therefore, he said, the Government will ensure “from now on that it is mandatory in all State departments” to have “daily service without appointments, in person” and that there may be delivery of documents “that were not previously scheduled”.
“We will also analyze cases in which this congestion has been greater and which has caused delays in public administration,” he said.
