GNR arrests 5 men and one woman who belonged to a drug trafficking network

The arrests took place in the municipalities of Loulé, Faro and Tavira

Five men and one woman, aged between 39 and 59, who were part of a drug trafficking network that operated in several Algarve municipalities, were arrested this Monday, June 17, announced the GNR. 

It all started during patrolling actions by the guard, in which they found that «there was a feeling of insecurity in the community of Tôr», in Loulé.

After police investigations, the military began an investigation that lasted around a year, which made it possible to determine the formation of a drug trafficking, distribution and sale network.

Yesterday, June 17th, nine home searches and eight non-home searches were carried out, through the NIC of Loulé, reinforced by the various Criminal Investigation Centers and Territorial Detachments of the Territorial Command of Faro, Intervention Detachment (DI), Coastal and Border Control Unit (UCCF).

In total, 32.492,00 doses of hashish, 593 doses of cocaine and 11 doses of marijuana were seized.

In addition, 14 cell phones, two firearms, a crossbow, two compressed air weapons, five light vehicles, three motorcycles, 6 euros, 876 dollars, 400 euros in counterfeit notes, various cutting materials and drug packaging were seized. and a couple of radios walkie talkie.

The detainees will be present at the Judicial Court of Faro, for the application of coercive measures.

The operation involved a total of 54 soldiers and was supported by the Public Security Police (PSP).
