Festivals of Popular Saints will invade the municipality of Albufeira

Sardines, marches and dances are part of the program

The Popular Saints will be celebrated in Albufeira with festivals, lots of sardines, marches and dances, in different parts of the municipality, starting tomorrow, the 14th, and until the 29th of June.

This Friday, from 19pm onwards, there is an Arraial de Santo António at the Mercado Municipal dos Caliços, «with lots of music, sardines and dancing throughout the night. The Paderne Marches and the Ritmos do Sul group also join this popular celebration», according to Albufeira City Council.

On Saturday, June 15th, the party takes place, also from 19pm, at Largo de Ferreiras, with the participation of six popular marches: Amigos da Pedreira, Armação de Pera, Mexilhoeira, Tunes and JI de Ferreiras. The public can count on entertainment, provided by Sons Latinos, and gastronomy.

The party will be repeated on the 22nd, but with the Marchas de Lagos, Museu de São Brás de Alportel (Almond Trees in Bloom), Bordeirense and Marchas Populares de Ervidel, the entertainment will be in charge of Marco António. On the 29th, it will be the turn of the Marcha da Glória ou Morte Portimonense, by Odiáxere and also the Marcha Centro Republican, Instrução e Recreativo Aljustrense (CRIRA), with the rest of the night with the sound of Valter Cabrita.

Still in Ferreiras, FC Ferreiras will celebrate Santo António a little later than usual, on June 21st, to add the Santos Populares sardines to their Caracol Festival. The party, where there will be no shortage of music, will take place at Estádio da Nora, between 17pm and 00am.

On the 15th, 22nd and 29th, from 18pm onwards, the Albufeira Volunteer Firefighters will also celebrate the Popular Saints with festivals, taking place in the barracks car park, where you can find «grilled sardines, lots of balloons and basil with the comics of tradition».
