Digital Diversity, Tolerance and Online Inclusion motivate meeting in Faro

The project's objective is to involve and motivate teachers, educators and young students to reflect and discuss the issue of online hate speech

The meeting “PROPS: Digital Diversity, Tolerance and Online Inclusion”, which marks the conclusion of another project by CIAC – Center for Research in Arts and Communication, will take place on the 4th of July, in Auditorium 1.5 of the Pedagogical Complex of the Campus da Penha from the University of Algarve, in Faro.

The meeting is part of the PROPS project – Interactive Narratives Proposing Pluralist Discourse, promoted by CIAC.

This event will provide a space to disseminate and discuss results and to present the six interactive narratives produced by PROPS researchers, coordinated by researchers Bruno Mendes da Silva and Ana Filipa Martins, which aim to involve and motivate teachers, educators and young students to reflect and discuss the issue of online hate speech.

The meeting will feature the participation of Vítor Tomé, professor at the Universidade Autónoma de Lisboa and researcher at Iscte-Instituto Universitário de Lisboa, as a
of the main speakers, and with representatives of national institutions such as SeguraNet and MetaRed, entities that operate in the areas of cybersecurity and the use of ICT in an academic context.

In addition to communications, there will also be space for two credited masterclasses, which are relevant for the purposes of career progression for Basic and Secondary Education teachers.

This effort is part of a recent partnership between CIAC and the Ria Formosa Training Center, Association of Schools Faro – Olhão.

Entry is free and participation in the event grants a certificate of participation upon registration.

This meeting is supported by national funds, through FCT – Foundation for Science and Technology.
