Algarve canoeists Iago Bebiano and Kevin Santos become K2 200 European champions

The duo of Algarve canoeists Iago Bebiano and Kevin Santos won the gold medal this afternoon in the K2 200 meter race at the European Championships in Hungary, which runs until Sunday in Szeged.

The athletes from the Lagoa club Castores do Arade, competing on track five, completed the race in 31,580 seconds. They were almost always in front, leaving the Poles Jakub Stepun and Przemyslaw Korsak in second place, at 0,317 seconds, and the Hungarians Levente Kurucz and Mark Opavszky in third, at 0,433.

Iago Bebiano, who makes his debut in senior Europeans, and Kevin Santos, who, in 2022, was European champion in K1 200 and, in 2023, also took gold, in mixed K2 200, with Teresa Portela, offered Portugal the second medal in this competition, an hour and a half after Pimenta achieved silver in K1 500.
