Tax Authority warns of fraudulent messages

The body supervised by the Ministry of Finance presented the example of three emails

The Tax and Customs Authority (AT) warned of fraudulent email messages that are assumed to be coming from this organization.

«The Tax and Customs Authority (AT) is aware that some taxpayers are receiving email messages supposedly coming from AT in which they are asked to click on 'links' that are provided», states AT in a note published in its portal.

The body supervised by the Ministry of Finance presented the example of three emails in which messages similar to subpoenas for payment or discrepancies in statements relating to the IRS are sent.

“These messages are false and should be ignored. Its objective is to convince the recipient to access malicious pages by clicking on the suggested links”, says the AT, which emphasizes that taxpayers “under no circumstances” should carry out these operations.

AT also urges taxpayers to consult the information security leaflet available on the Finance Portal.
