Aljezur close to resolving “ancient problem, over 30 years old” with Carrascalinho’s sewers

As part of the contract to deactivate the Rogil and Carrascalinho Waste Water Treatment Plants (WWTP)

The Aljezur City Council will connect the houses in Carrascalinho to the Águas do Algarve pumping station, as part of the contract to deactivate the Rogil and Carrascalinho Waste Water Treatment Stations (WWTP), an intervention that is almost completed and will resolve «a old problem, more than 30 years old», according to the municipality.

«Housing in the locality will be connected to the Aljezur WWTP through the Pumping Station and respective outfalls, putting an end to a situation that has been going on for decades», states the Aljezur City Council.

The work is in the final phase «and is just waiting for the elevator to be connected to the electricity grid before it starts operating. This intervention will provide a concrete response to the wishes of the population of Carrascalinho, who will benefit from a significant improvement in their quality of life. Furthermore, the work will contribute to the environmental protection of the Arieiro river», he concludes.
