Algarvian Isilda Gomes elected European deputy by PS

He confesses “a feeling of great responsibility” for his election to the EP

Isilda Gomes, who until a few weeks ago was president of Portimão City Council, was this Sunday elected European deputy by the PS list.

The mayor was number seven of the socialists, and her election was already assured.

In statements to the Sul Informação, Isilda Gomes said she felt “a lot of joy”, but also “a feeling of great responsibility, knowing that there were many people trusting the PS and me, throughout the Algarve”.

Isilda Gomes, who already has European experience as part of the Committee of the Regions, as mayor, will now have a “slightly different and more demanding” experience. “By the end of the month, I hope to be fully working in the European Parliament,” she concluded.

The PS won the European elections at national level, as well as in the Algarve.
