Albufeira opens sports center and children's playground at Quinta da Palmeira

Albufeira City Council inaugurated two works at Quinta da Palmeira, one intended for sports, the other for children, in a ceremony that took place yesterday, Tuesday, June 11th.

On the same day, the renovation works were inaugurated at the Quinta da Palmeira Polidesportivo, intended for futsal, handball and basketball, as well as the local Leisure, Fitness and Children's Park, works that meant an investment that amounted to 340 thousand euros, the municipality now gains two more infrastructures with the community in mind, giving the space new functionalities and enabling greater intergenerational interaction.

«This requalification has been in our plans for a long time, as we want equal conditions for everyone in our municipality, in terms of leisure opportunities, sports and quality spaces for our children, so it is an inauguration that fills me with satisfaction», said José Carlos Rolo, president of the City Council.

The mayor guaranteed that «this is a well-qualified space, which brightens our city and allows the practice of physical exercise and sports in an organized but non-associative way, as well as creating a leisure space for all age groups» .

The vice-president and councilor for Sports and Youth, Cristiano Cabrita, for his part, stated «our pride in having fought and managed to provide these spaces, which were already degraded, with requalification works, new equipment for sports and leisure for adults and children and more security for Albufeirenses».

«We work for satisfaction and for a life of quality and dignity for everyone who comes here, but especially for those who live here». The mayor also revealed that this «is part of a plan to requalify sports spaces and equipment, as has already happened with the Polidesportivo de Olhos de Água, Ferreiras and Parque do Ribeiro, which largely demonstrate the Executive's commitment to achieving of the title of European City of Sport 2026”.
