UAlg Tec Campus reaches maximum capacity

The University of Algarve Business Accelerator – UAlg Tec Campus – reached its maximum capacity of established companies and entrepreneurs (30), with more than 400 workers in total.

Located on the Penha Campus of the University of Algarve, the space, opened in 2022, is managed by the Associação Algarve Systems and Technology Partnership (Algarve STP), a non-profit organization made up of public and private entities active in the Algarve region.

With acceleration models divided between offices, coworking and virtual acceleration, Tec Campus «arose with the aim of dynamizing and expanding the region's technological ecosystem by promoting a greater connection between the University and economic agents, promoting the transfer of knowledge , the promotion of joint initiatives and the acceleration of companies in the information, communication and electronic technologies (TICE) sector”, says Algarve STP.

For Paulo Santos, vice-president of the association, reaching maximum capacity is a good sign.

«This result shows that we are on the right path in our mission to promote technological development and support the growth of companies in the Algarve», he says.

«Furthermore, the fact that we have run out of physical spaces and still have companies on the waiting list reinforces the need for more infrastructure like this. Taking this into account, we challenge municipalities, public entities and private entities in the Algarve to propose spaces that can serve for incubation and acceleration of companies, and help us respond to the needs of the regional business fabric», he adds.

Although physical capacity is at maximum, interested companies can join the ecosystem through virtual acceleration.

The model allows companies to benefit from all facilities, business development consultancy, access to acceleration programs and business networks. networking, without, however, having a physical workstation.
