São Brás: Man who “ordered” murder in 1998 was arrested in Lisbon

The detainee was taken to the prison of Faro, where he will serve a 14-year sentence

A 51-year-old man, who ordered the murder of a 28-year-old young man, in February 1998, in São Brás de Alportel, has now been arrested in Lisbon, the Judiciary Police (PJ) announced this Thursday, May 30th.

According to the PJ, the victim's body was, at the time, “abandoned in the Castro Marim area and his vehicle in Spain”.

The young man was approached and restrained “by three men who, acting at the behest of the detainee”, took him to a “remote place”, where they killed him with a shot from a firearm.

From the investigation carried out by the Southern Directorate, in conjunction with the technical support unit for the PJ's criminal investigation, «it was concluded that the crime was due to matters of passion, purposefully concealed in order to make people believe that a crime against property was being carried out ( robbery)”, says the PJ.

The detainee was taken to the prison of Faro, where he will serve a 14-year sentence.
