Sagres begins another rubbish cleaning action

On the 1th of June

Vertical – ADR Climbing Center, Vertigo Clube de Escalada Lisboa, AMEA, Yupik Outdoor and SAFE came together to promote a new cleaning action in Sagres, aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the Nations United, on June 1st.

The initiative follows «the successful first cleaning action in Sagres in November», which resulted in the removal of 360 kilos of glass and 120 kilos of plastic and undifferentiated rubbish from our cliffs.

«The cleaning action directly contributes to SDG 14 – Underwater Life, by reducing marine pollution, and SDG 15 – Life on Land, by promoting the sustainable management of terrestrial ecosystems», believes the organization.

The meeting point is at 10 am, in front of Pousada de Sagres.

The intervention area of this second action will be Baleeira, the area between Ponta da Atalaia and Ponta da Baleeira, where a sharp increase in the accumulation of garbage has also been observed over the years.

The cleaning action aims to «raise awareness among public and private entities, local associations and the general public about the benefits of climbing, which are aligned with the SDGs».
