Passeio das Dunas hosts Maternity Marathon

This solidarity initiative consists of a three-kilometer walk

The first edition of the Algarve Maternity Marathon will take place on the 8th of June at 10 am, on Passeio das Dunas, between Quarteira and Vilamoura, and will have Mariana Peixoto and Sisley Dias as ambassadors.

This solidarity initiative consists of a three-kilometer walk that aims to encourage birth rates and is dedicated to all pregnant women and families in the Algarve region.

When registering, you will be able to purchase your participant kit for the symbolic value of three euros, consisting of a backpack, t-shirt and various offers from the event's partners.

For each registration, two euros will be donated to APPC-CAV, which supports pregnant and postpartum women in fragile situations in the municipalities of Faro, Olhão and Loulé. All registrants are also eligible to receive a basket of offers worth 950 euros.

«The main objective is to bring together as many pregnant women, couples, family and friends as possible to celebrate birth in Portugal at a time when the latest official data indicate that Portugal has surpassed the barrier of 2023 thousand births in 80 », says Luís Melo, administrator of Bebé Vida.

For Ivone Lobo, obstetrician and director of the Obstetrics Service at the HPA Gambelas Hospital, «the HPA Group, being a reference in the area of ​​obstetrics and with the only private maternity hospital in the Algarve, could not fail to join this initiative that aims to be a encouraging birth rates and simultaneously supporting an institution like APPC that carries out extremely important work».
