Monchique challenges again: «Let’s go to the Village»?

“ Vamos à Vila ” aims to be a moment of celebration of local traditions

Gastronomy, traditional sausages and other local products, medronho brandy, sweets, traditional games, philharmonic band, jazz and traditional music, dances and other entertainment in the streets, arts and crafts, workshops. These are just some of the ingredients of another « Vamos à Vila », which will take place on the streets of Monchique, from the 31st of May to the 2nd of June.

The Monchique City Council, which promotes the event, highlights that «“ Vamos à Vila ” aims to be a moment of celebration of local traditions», «a tribute to what has gone and what is intended to be maintained as tradition», «an event with veracity and essence that invites everyone to participate in sharing local knowledge and flavors.




At the event, which takes place throughout the winding streets of the town center, the public square becomes “a place of celebration and celebration of traditions”, in which “the voice and traditions of a community are the guiding thread”, calling the attention to the “particularities” of the municipality and the territory.

As has become customary, seven villages will be located in the center of the town, around which various activities are organized, inviting visitors to stroll the streets.
