Doctor António Gandra d'Almeida is the new executive director of the SNS

Fernando Araújo had gone to the Ministry of Health on Tuesday and today he is heard in parliament to explain the reasons for having resigned in April

The Ministry of Health announced today that it had chosen doctor António Gandra d'Almeida to replace Fernando Araújo as executive director of the SNS and added that the lieutenant colonel has extensive experience in medical emergencies.

In a statement, the ministry indicates that the new person in charge was director of the northern regional delegation of the National Institute of Medical Emergency (INEM), is commander of the Health Group, carries out hospital and pre-hospital care activities and that in the Armed Forces he has accumulated leadership and of coordination.

The ministry supervised by Ana Paula Martins also said that it received on Tuesday the activity report from the Executive Directorate of the National Health Service (DE – SNS) «which will now be subject to analysis by the Ministry of Health».
