Lagos Municipal Assembly receives best practices award

The chosen themes address issues relevant to the municipality, in particular, and to the population and organizations, in general.

The Municipal Assembly of Lagos received an award for “Good Practices – Valorization of AM” with the project “Jornadas de Lagos, within the scope of the “ANAM Awards”, whose congress took place on the 17th and 18th of May, in Barcelos.

Already in its 6th edition, the “ANAM Awards” were created with the aim of recognizing, at a national level, studies, articles, scientific and journalistic research works and school-related works related to matters that value and dignify Municipal Assemblies and the its role in the democratic organization of municipalities.

There are several categories for these awards: Good Practices in Municipal Assemblies, School-related work and the Dr. José Manuel Pavão award and respective honorable mentions.

With Maria Joaquina Matos as president, and with several political forces involved (PS, PSD, CDU, Lagos com Futuro, CHEGA and BE), the Lagos Municipal Assembly has maintained, over several years, the holding of the Lagos Days, with the motto “Thinking Lagos at the crossroads of the future”.

The chosen themes address issues relevant to the municipality, in particular, and to the population and organizations, in general.

In their initiatives, entities and individuals of national, regional and local importance have collaborated, providing debates between these elements, mayors and citizens in general, promoting a policy of proximity.

The last seminars organized within the scope of this project were “WWTP and its Influence on the Marine Ecosystem” (October 2023) and “Local Power and Citizen Participation” (March) which valued the knowledge of citizens who participated either directly, or via online transmission.
