ACTA will bring theater to São Brás de Alportel by 2025

Chamber will support this cultural structure with 19 thousand euros

ACTA – The Algarve Theater Company, will make 17 presentations of different shows until the end of 2025, in São Brás de Alportel, under a protocol signed between the Municipality and the theater company.

In total, there will be six plays that will be shown to the general public and the school community, at the São Brás Cineteatro Jaime Pinto and to the school community in the municipality, including “Supplicants”, “Experiência”, “A que Does it smell like Freedom?”, “Dialogue of the Penitent and the Repentant” and “The Ridiculous Letters of Senhor Fernando and the Lyrical Sighs of Miss Ophelia”.

In return, the Chamber will provide support of 19 thousand euros to ACTA, which in 2023 will no longer have support from the Directorate-General for the Arts, which it has enjoyed since 1998.

«Without folding its arms, the Company presented a program for the years 2024 and 2025 with recognized quality both in its offer to the general public and in the area of ​​educational services», which justified the municipality's commitment, according to the Chamber of São Paulo. Brás de Alportel.

This partnership «aims to democratize the local population's access to culture, in full line with the Municipality's Association Support Plan», at the same time as it supports ACTA to pursue its mission of theatrical artistic production for the Algarve and contribute to quality training for young people who come into contact with the work of this theater company».

ACTA – The Algarve Theater Company, is a professional theatrical artistic production structure. One of its most emblematic educational projects is VATe (Let's catch the Theatre), which is presented in a bus transformed into a traveling theater that brings culture and awareness about different current topics to young people in all municipalities in the Algarve and «which is a regular presence in São Brás de Alportel, with its last performance taking place in April with the presentation of the play “What does Freedom smell like?” which is part of the São Brasense program for the Celebrations of the 50th anniversary of April 25, 1974.
