651 traffic violations detected in the last week in the Algarve

Between the 20nd and 26st of May

651 traffic violations detected, 165 accidents recorded and 51 arrested are the results of the GNR's operational activity to combat violent crime, road inspection, among others, which took place between the 20th and 26th of May. 

Of the infractions detected, the GNR highlights 213 due to speeding, 57 related to anomalies in lighting and signaling systems, 49 due to lack of mandatory periodic inspection, 26 due to lack of or incorrect use of seat belts and/or child restraint systems. , 20 for improper use of a cell phone while driving and 17 for lack of civil liability insurance.

During this period, 51 people were arrested – 14 for driving without a legal license, 12 for driving under the influence of alcohol and 11 for drug trafficking – and 225 doses of hashish, 142 cartridges, 28 doses of cocaine, 25 cell phones, a shotgun, a pistol and several articles of clothing.

There were also 165 accidents recorded, which resulted in two serious injuries and 42 minor injuries.
