Vista receives the best pastry chef in the world for a menu dedicated to desserts

Event marks the reopening of VISTA to gastronomic events, after the renovation of the restaurant's interiors carried out by Graça Viterbo

A different night, with a menu based on desserts that also includes some savory moments — this is VISTA's proposal for the dinner on April 26th, in which João Oliveira welcomes Antonio Bachour, considered the best pastry chef in the world in 2018 and 2022, at the Best Chef Awards, for a dinner where there are only 30 seats.

The event marks the reopening of VISTA to gastronomic events in a renovated house, as it is the first to take place after the intervention carried out inside the restaurant by the experienced hand of Graça Viterbo, who left behind a more classic record, and maintains the aura harmonious, but warmer and more contemporary.

The 8-course menu will feature creations from both chefs and will give priority to desserts; but the guest chef will arrive a few days early to get to know the Algarve, visit producers and discover ingredients from the region.

The idea is that, based on the discoveries made in this foray, some savory dishes will also be used using pastry techniques, taking advantage of the knowledge of Bachour, who started working in his family's bakery at the age of 13, and today manages four bakeries and restaurants in Miami, including Tablé by Bachour, with a clear French influence and brasserie style that has been successful in Miami, and two other projects in Mexico.

The pairing will be done with wines from the best Algarve producers and dinner starts at 19pm. Costing 00 euros, reservations must be made to [email protected].

Antonio Bachour was born in Puerto Rico. He fell in love with pastry in the family business and dedicated himself to perfecting that taste, as pastry chef at the Sands Hotel and Casino and the Westin Rio Mar.

In 2001, he moved to the USA, where he took on roles at Talula, DeVito South Beach and Scarpetta by Scott Conant, in Miami and New York, and also worked at the W Hotel South Beach and the Trump Soho Hotel.

In all these projects, he left his mark on pastry and became widely recognized for the creativity in his creations.

VISTA is the restaurant at Bela Vista Hotel & Spa, the first hotel in the Algarve, open in Praia da Rocha since 1934.

The restaurant was created in 2011, but it was in 2015 that chef João Oliveira changed its direction, after a solid journey through Casa da Calçada, The Yeatman and Vila Joya.

The search for a Portuguese, Algarve identity with a strong connection to the sea and sustainability brought VISTA its first Michelin star in 2017.

Since then, the team has consolidated its path, developing a unique language, which favors products from the Algarve coast and which does not forget the region's organic vegetables.
