Library of Faro celebrates 23 years with new projects and two shows

The program for the centenary celebrations of the poet António Ramos Rosa will also be presented

The Municipal Library of Faro will celebrate its 23rd anniversary with the inauguration of a new project that combines reading and health, the presentation of the program celebrating the centenary of the Poet António Ramos Rosa and two shows, tomorrow, Tuesday, April 23rd.

Opening the celebrations, in the morning, the new project “Reading is good and gives you health” will be inaugurated, in partnership with the Municipal Library of Faro with the Family Health Unit Farol (USF).

«Through this initiative, an inviting space for reading will be created in the USF waiting room Farol, where the idea is to boost interest in books, consolidate reading habits, increasing the healthy occupation of free time», according to the Chamber of Faro.

From 14:30 pm, the Municipal Library will host the show “My loneliness should have wings”, a multidisciplinary play aimed at secondary school students and the general public “that combines theater and the promotion of reading”.

This show, written by actress Cristina Paiva and director Fernando Ladeira, from Andante – Associação Artística, «will be a moment to hear about poetry, literature and democracy, play with truth and lies, play with life , with death and with the future».

From 16pm onwards, the program for the centenary celebrations of the Poet António Ramos Rosa will be presented, where, in addition to municipal officials, the curator of the celebrations, António Carlos Cortez, and José Manuel Mendes, president of APE Associação, will be present. Portuguese Writers.

The program ends with a musical show by the Feel Good Band, a band that will provide a concert from 21:30 pm at the Municipal Library in which the sounds of jazz will predominate, through African, Latin, funk and classic jazz rhythms.

All sessions are free entry.
