APAL promotes conference on “Paths to the Future”

A Albufeira Promotion Agency (APAL) will promote, on the 19th of April, the “Pathways to the Future” Conference, within the scope of its 20th anniversary. 

In addition to the conference, scheduled for 14:30 pm, with two panels of experts, who will reflect on some of the most current themes associated with the sector, there will be other activities, at Nau Salgados Palace, which includes a Members' Show, a conference and a dinner with entertainment by Eduardo Madeira.

For the conference, for To speak about “New Forms of Tourism Promotion”, António Jorge Costa, CEO of IPDT Turismo, and Carlos Coelho, president of the Ivity Brend Group, were invited.

António Jorge Costa is co-founder and president of the Institute for Tourism Planning and Development, an affiliated entity of the World Tourism Organization and the Global Sustainable Tourism Council. He is a member of the World Tourism Organization Barometer Expert Panel, the Porto Airport Advisory Board and the board of the Porto Tourism Association. Since January 2017, he has been a World Bank expert in the area of ​​tourism development.

Carlos Coelho was founder and president of Brandia/Novodesign, where, over 20 years, he led hundreds of projects for some of the most relevant brands in Portugal, such as Multibanco, Telecel/Vodafone, Yorn, Galp Energia, RTP, TV Cabo, CTT and TAP. In 2005, he was distinguished as 'Marketing Personality of the Year' by APPM. He is the founder and president of Ivity Brand Corp, an international consultancy focused on the creation, innovation and management of brands.

The theme “The Future of Tourism: Opportunities and Threats” will be developed by Luís Serra Coelho, associate professor at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Algarve, and by João Luís Duque, professor at ISEG – Technical University of Lisbon.

João Duque is a full professor and president of ISEG. In addition to his academic activities, he is a columnist for Expresso and Diário Económico. He was one of the members of the permanent panel on the program 'Plano Inclinado', on SIC Notícias, a channel where he remains a commentator.

Luís Serra Coelho is an associate professor with Aggregation at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Algarve, where he assumes the role of Deputy Director and Director of the Master's in Finance. He is an integrated member of the Center for Studies and Advanced Training in Management and Economics at the University of Évora and an associate member of the Center for Research in Tourism, Sustainability and Wellbeing. He is president of the Algarve Regional Delegation of the Order of Economists and a member of the Order of Certified Accountants

The opening session of this conference features interventions by Desidério Silva, president of the Board of the Albufeira Promotion Agency, André Gomes, president of the Algarve Tourism Region and José Carlos Rolo, president of Albufeira City Council.

For the closing session, the presence of Carlos Abade, president of Turismo de Portugal, is expected.
