Spaniard Enrique Maranchon wins the Volta ao Concelho de Loulé

The last stage was won by Daniel Moreira

Spaniard Enrique Maranchon (Picusa Academy/Grupo Desportivo Cortizo) is the winner of the Volta ao Concelho de Loulé, which ended today, Saturday. The third and final stage was won by Daniel Moreira (Paredes/Fortunna).

Today's ride, with 118,2 kilometers of competition, began and ended in the city of Loulé and was marked «by the demanding nature of the route, providing a very fine selection of values», which led to the cyclists reaching «the bill -drops".

«Among the front group, three riders proved to be more powerful in the fight for stage victory. Daniel Moreira, who yesterday won the second sector of the second stage, imposed himself again», described the Portuguese Cycling Federation.

The Vivian native crossed the finish line in 3h13m25 (average of 36,667 km/h). Enrique Maranchon arrived with the same time, sealing the overall triumph, and José Maria Pina (Valverde Team/Ricardo Fuentes).

 

 

«After gaining an advantage with his solo victory on the first day and with the individual time trial in the first sector yesterday, Enrique Maranchon controlled the race to finish dressed in yellow. On an all-Spanish podium, José Maria Pina was second, at 1m24s, followed by Héctor Celda (Picusa Academy/Grupo Desportivo Cortizo), at 1m25s».

Daniel Moreira, fifth, at 1m40s, José Salgueiro (Picusa Academy/Grupo Desportivo Cortizo), ninth, at 2m24s, and João António (ABTF Betão/Bairrada), tenth, at 2m37s, were the Portuguese representatives in the final top 10.

Enrique Maranchon also won the classification for the first year juniors and contributed to the collective triumph of Picusa Academy/Grupo Desportivo Cortizo. Daniel Moreira won the points classification and Gonçalo Rodrigues (Landeiro/KTM/Matias&Araújo) finished the race as the best climber.
