Algarve Wine Tourism, a route created by the Algarve Wine Commission (CVA) in 2022, which combines wines and experiences, was awarded best “Wine Tourism 2023” in this year's edition of the Grandes Escolhas Awards, which were delivered on March 1st, at the Estoril Congress Center.
The Grandes Escolhas Awards «aim to recognize the best that is done in Portugal in the gastronomy and wine tourism sector, so in this event “The Best of the Year” are awarded, thus recognizing annually, and in accordance with the magazine's editorial criteria, the excellence of the work in these sectors», according to the CVA.
The awards are divided into categories for the best wines, professionals, companies, products, restaurants, wine cellars and institutions linked to the production and marketing of wine in Portugal.
«Through Algarve Wine Tourism, it is possible to discover an irreverent and dynamic route through the region's wines, promoted by the Algarve Wine Commission, the entity responsible for certifying wine products, with designation of origin in Lagos, Portimão, Lagoa and Tavira, and indication geographical area of the Algarve", according to Sara Silva, president of the board of directors of the Algarve Wine Commission.
The distinction of the “Wine Tourism 2023” trophy “attests and reinforces the quality and excellence of this route and its products, making the pairing perfect for a visit to the Algarve, which combines gastronomic experiences, leisure, heritage and tasting Algarve wines, thus reinforcing its mission», considers the CVA.
In total, 20 trophies were awarded at the gala on day 1.
Sara Silva, when she was called to the stage to receive the award, «thanked everyone responsible for the recognition, also reinforcing some of those that continue to be the values, mission and objectives of the Algarve Wine Commission, particularly regarding its expansion and contribution to the development of the region”.
