Prison guards begin strike today

Protest is called by the National Union of the Prison Guard Corps

Today, prison guards begin a period of practically two weeks of strike at the stage, a protest called by the National Union of the Prison Guard Corps (SNCGP) that could compromise the transport of prisoners to the courts.

According to the advance notice of the strike, which will take place between 00:00 on 13th February and 23:59 on 25th February, the aim of the strike is to “valorize and dignify professionals”, the “restructuring of remuneration supplements” and “ approval of the performance evaluation system for prison guard professionals, which has already been completed».

The advance notice sent to the Government, regional Governments, the General Directorate of Reinsertion and Prison Services (DGRSP) and the directors of the country's prison establishments "declares a strike in the due diligence service" during the stated period.

With the same demands, the SNCGP has already scheduled the continuation of this strike, between the 26th of February and the 9th of March and carried out a total strike of 24 hours on the 31st of January, having in the meantime received the promise from the Government that by March there would be approval of the evaluation and performance system.

Prison guards have also been present at security force protests over the last month, motivated mainly by the granting of a mission allowance to the PJ, which left out not only the prison guard, but also the PSP and GNR.
