Districts of Faro and Beja under yellow warning on Friday due to sea unrest

Northwest waves of 4 to 5 meters are expected

The districts of Faro, Beja and Setúbal will be under yellow warning due to the state of the sea, with northwest waves measuring 4 to 5 meters expected, between 00:00 and 7:00 on Friday.

According to the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA), it should also be noted that seven districts of the continent will be under orange warning on Thursday and Friday due to the forecast of sea unrest, with northwest waves expected with 5 to 7 meters, reaching a maximum height of 12 meters.

The districts of Porto, Viana do Castelo, Lisbon, Leiria, Aveiro Coimbra and Braga will also be under yellow warning between 12pm and 00pm on Thursday, then turning to orange.

The orange warning for these districts will be in force between 18pm on Thursday and 00am on Friday.

The orange warning is issued by IPMA whenever there is a “moderate to high risk meteorological situation and the yellow warning when there is a risk situation for certain activities dependent on the meteorological situation”.
