Monchique offers buckets and domestic composters

The equipment will be available from this Saturday

Monchique City Council will offer 1000 7-liter buckets for domestic use and 200 domestic composters, as part of the “RecolhaBio – Support for the implementation of selective collection of bio-waste” project.

The equipment will be available from this Saturday, January 27th, at parish councils and municipal warehouses, only for registered residents.

Registration can be done online (on the municipality's website) or in person (at parish councils or at the one-stop shop), or by calling 282 910 200.

In parallel, six community composters are available (which will come into operation on that date) in Alferce, next to Polidesportivo, Marmelete, in front of Lar, and Monchique – S. Pedro, in the Mercado Municipal, Ceiceira and S. Roque parking lots.

The “Food surplus: there is more to give” campaign includes awareness raising in schools and training/clarification sessions for the population on the methodology, routines and benefits of home composting (with free availability of home composters and buckets, for use by community composters, to participating citizens).
