José Carlos Rolo, mayor of Albufeira, says that «with this initiative, the Municipality intends to encourage outdoor play with the aim of fostering socialization between children and adults, stimulating a sense of community, respect for nature and public space».

The mayor emphasizes that outdoor play serves to stimulate children in a sensorial way, putting them in full contact with nature.

«It's important to grow up with the opportunity to climb trees and fall, roll around on the ground, fight pretend. There is no need to have specific or very elaborate materials, or even specific infrastructure, such as playgrounds, for children to unleash their creativity and have fun playing», he concluded.
