The first edition of the São Silvestre Algarve-Albufeira race already has 700 participants, from 19 nationalities, and is scheduled for December 29th, at 20 pm, with departure and arrival at Miradouro do Pau da Bandeira.
It is a nine-kilometer run and a five-kilometer walk, which will pass through some of the most emblematic points of the Municipality during the night.
The first São Silvestre Algarve – Albufeira has prizes totaling 5200 euros in the different categories.
There are already 30 technicians and 20 volunteers, 30 security force agents, 10 vehicles, four firefighters and an ambulance on hand.
A week in advance there will be information in the city about traffic restrictions, and Avenida dos Descobrimentos and affected arteries will have only one lane of the road unavailable, allowing traffic to continue to flow while the race takes place.

The event is organized by Cabreira Solutions, in partnership with Clube de Areias de São João, with the support of the Municipality of Albufeira and requires registration via email [email protected].
This is intended to be the “most significant event in the region” and “one of the most relevant at national level”, especially because “we already have big names in Athletics registered, who are bringing family members and who will want to stay in Albufeira after the race, to attend the end of year festivities", said João Cabreira, responsible for the organizing company.

In the race on the 29th, all participants will have a “jersey” shirt and a “FreeStar” medal for race participants.
In addition, there are prizes worth 5200 euros to be distributed across different categories.
