Orquestra do Algarve gives new year concert in Portimão

The Orquestra do Algarve will give a New Year's concert on the night of January 5th, starting at 21pm, at the Teatro Municipal de Portimão. 

It will be directed by Basque maestro Pablo Urbina.

The concert program will consist of works by Félix Mendelssohn Bartholdy (Notturno from Midsummer Night's Dream and Saltarello from Symphony no. 4), Tiago Derriça (Portuguese Dances), Antonín Dvórák (Polka from the Czech Suite), Mélanie Bonis (Suite en forme de waltzes) and Johann Strauss (An der schönen blauen Donau).

Born in 1988 in the city of Vitoria-Gasteiz, capital of the Basque Country, Pablo Urbina has been, since 2019, principal conductor of the London Vitae Orchestra and ambassador of The Amber Trust 22-23, having distinguished himself as director of the National Radio Orchestra Spanish, the Balearic Symphony Orchestra, the Tenerife Opera and the Waco Symphony of Texas.

The show has free entry, upon prior collection of tickets, available from January 3rd, between 13pm and 00pm, at the TEMPO box office.
