Christmas is right around the corner and thinking about those who are still looking for gifts, the Sul Informação gathered a dozen local business suggestions.

From ceramics to items made from wood, regional sweets, books and photographs to preserves, discover some of these projects and options for this festive season.

Na Two Dogs, located on Rua da Misericórdia, in Faro, next to Arco da Vila, there are pieces for all tastes, ranging from cutting boards, to coasters, wooden spoons, coffee capsule holders, trays or simply decorative pieces.

Everything is made by hand and in wood by Bruno Martins, who discovered his passion for this art in 2014. The project, which was incubated in QRIAR – Algarve Creative Incubator, launched by QRER cooperative, has a store open from Monday to Friday, between 10:30 am and 17:00 pm, and on Saturdays until 19:00 pm.

The prices of the pieces vary between 5 and 120 euros.

 

Southern sweets

Created in December 2021 with the aim of bringing together the largest network of sweets products in the Algarve, combining innovation and tradition, Southern sweets, in Silves, reveals some of the region's forgotten sweets.

At the Alexandra Santos store, which is located on Rua Dr. Francisco Vieira, and is open from Monday to Saturday, from 10:00 am to 19:00 pm, and on Saturday, from 9:30 am to 13:00 pm, there are also liqueurs, wines, conversations and jams.

Doçaria do Sul also offers workshops where almonds, figs or carob are the featured products.

 

Dreams by Edge flues

 

Born in the Algarve, Vera Lameira was inspired by the region's nature to create her handcrafted jewelry pieces and other accessories in silk and cotton fabrics.

Jacarandas, orange trees, almond trees and even the Ria Formosa seahorse now give life to the artist's signature pieces.

The pieces are displayed in Facebook page, through which it is also possible to place orders.

 

RATE 

 

At TASA a new life is given to the traditional arts of the Algarve, maintaining their usefulness and cultural matrix.

This project, which began to take its first steps in 2010, has already brought together several generations, who, together, have, over more than a decade, created unique and innovative pieces of craftsmanship.

With sustainability in mind, the way all pieces are made is also what distinguishes TASA, based in Loulé.

The store is at Rua de Portugal, 35B.

 

The Brave 

 

In the middle of the pandemic, the first pieces of the La Brava. What started as a hobby, became a consolidated business, with its own store, in Faro.

Produced in the Algarve, the pieces, which range from vases to mugs, are inspired by the region.

The La Brava store is located in Praceta dos Ferroviários Edificio Riamar, Bloco 7, Loja 19, and it is there that several ceramics workshops are also held.

 

salmarim 

 

To give more life to meals and innovate in cuisine, Salmarim saw fleur de sel harvested in the Castro Marim salt flats as a unique and innovative business opportunity.

Now, it is possible to buy Fleur de sel in a cork salt shaker and with Spicy – ​​Piri-piri, lemon, Mediterranean or aromatic.

Options range from 4,50 euros to 20 and can be ordered through the site.

 

Mmazurek 

 

Photographer and artisan originally from Poland, Martyna moved to the Algarve in 2012 and fell in love with Portuguese tiles and facades, which currently serve as inspiration for her work.

Christmas decorations, nativity scenes, earrings or tote bags: in every piece you can find a little bit of the Algarve.

MMazurek parts can be ordered here or through Instagram page, where the artist shares her daily work.

 

LikeCork

 

Using cork as its base, LikeCork produces furniture and home accessories inspired by Portuguese traditions, with innovation and respect for nature.

The brand, whose designer is Sandra Louro, was created in 2012 and has dozens of options.

From lamps to balancing chairs, prices vary between 30 and 800 euros.

Mary of the Sea

 

Created by Ana and Pedro Costa Franco, at the Maria do Mar grocery store, you can buy all types of preserves produced in Portugal, even those from brands that are, for the most part, for export.

Canned sardines, mackerel, tuna, octopus, squid, anchovies, cod, eels, trout, among other seafood, in fact, in that space, on Rua Direita, in Portimão, there is a little bit of everything.

The store is open Monday to Saturday, between 12pm and 00pm.

 

The Flower Bar

 

The Flower Bar is another project that was born during the pandemic, a time when many people reinvented themselves. Cristina Monteiro, until then a dentist, found a passion in flowers and began making arrangements and selling ceramics.

The project went so well that the businesswoman opened a physical space to sell the pieces. After visiting MarShopping, The Flower Bar pieces are now on sale at The Flower Bar & Coffee Shop, a café created within the same concept.

The store is on Rua Ataide de Oliveira, in Faro.

 

Conserveira do Arade + Grocery store in Algarve

A Conservator do Arade, the only canning factory operating in the entire Barlavento Algarve, produces the tasty Saboreal snacks, as well as the Papa-Anzóis preserves, which are an excellent idea to offer this Christmas.

Furthermore, because Conserveira do Arade makes some very beautiful gift baskets, which can even include other products from the region, thanks to the partnership with Algarve Grocery Store, which now operates in the same facilities (and also has personalized hampers).

They ship throughout the country and beyond borders. For Portugal, shipping is free for purchases worth 50 euros.

1000 eyes

A 1000 eyes, created by photographer João Mariano, is «a communication agency that is based (rooted) in Aljezur, on the Costa Vicentina». In addition to the store at Mercado de Aljezur, where you can buy books published by 1000olhos (many by João Mariano himself), t-shirts and other merchandising linked to Aljezur and the Costa Vicentina, there is now also the 1000eyes Gallery&Books, you can “consult and buy the books designed and produced by us, as well as our editions”.
