Olympic champion Carlos Lopes honored in Faro

Olympic champion Carlos Lopes, gold medalist in Los Angeles in 1984, was honored, on November 30th, by the Algarve associative and sports movement, in a ceremony at the Portuguese Institute of Sports and Youth (IPDJ). 

The moment was lived with “a lot of nostalgia”, according to the IPDJ.

The ceremony featured videos, reports and photographs and many memories of that achievement in 1984, in the Olympic Games marathon.

In addition to the tribute to Carlos Lopes, these VII Associative Technical Days, organized by the Algarve Regional Directorate of IPDJ, featured the testimony of young people who inspire, to hear about national and regional references about UAARE (Support Units for High Performance in Schools) , about coach training, about sport as an inclusion tool, about social innovation and financing opportunities, about High Performance Centers, about IPDJ Programs in the area of ​​youth and sport, among many others.
