Note published on the Presidency of the Republic website

The President of the Republic, who accepted the resignation of Prime Minister António Costa, decided to convene the Political Parties represented in the Assembly of the Republic for tomorrow, Wednesday, November 8th, as well as to convene the State Council, to meet the day after tomorrow, Thursday, the 9th, at 15:00 pm, at the Palace from Belém.

The note published on the website of the Presidency of the Republic adds that Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa “will speak to the country immediately after the Council of State meeting”.

António Costa announced this afternoon that he had submitted his resignation to the President of the Republic, in a communication to the country.

The head of the Executive could not resist today's controversy that involved searches of various locations, such as the prime minister's official residence, due to the lithium (Montalegre and Boticas) and hydrogen (Sines) projects.

The Public Ministry has also announced that the Supreme will carry out an independent investigation into António Costa.
