Algarve Jazz Orchestra performs with Paula Oliveira in Lagoa

Paula Oliveira is an unmissable jazz singer on the national jazz scene

The Algarve Jazz Orchestra will make its last visit in 2023 to the Carlos do Carmo Auditorium, in Lagoa, with the concert “After You've Gone”, which features jazz singer Paula Oliveira, as a special guest of this show. The concert will be on December 16th, Saturday, at 19pm and tickets are now on sale.

Paula Oliveira is an unmissable jazz singer on the national jazz scene, with an enviable career across Portugal and beyond. She studied at the Hot Club de Portugal, Taller de Musics de Barcelona or Manhattan School Of Music (NY), where she resided.

The list of mentors is huge, including names like Phil Woods, Norma Winston, Reggie Workman, to name a few. From Jazz to Portuguese Music, there are several published works.

Join the Algarve Jazz Orchestra this Christmas season. After You've Gone is the theme that provides the guiding line for this energetic and contrasting concert: if it weren’t for the “Up Swing” orchestration by Sarah Vaughan.

Other great standards join it: Come Rain Or Come Shine, Fly Me To The Moon, Let The Good times Roll, or, in more 80's sounds This Masquerade.

Highlight are some orchestrations by Claus Nymark, a Danish musician residing in Portugal for decades, who contributes greatly to Portuguese Jazz, whether in teaching, as a musician or directing the Angrajazz Orchestra, in the Azores.

Tickets for this show cost 1 euros0 and now are for sale at BOL and at the ticket offices of CTT, Fnac, Worten, Auditorium Carlos do Carmo, Centro Cultural Convento de S. José and Balcão Único da Câmara Municipal de Lagoa (20% discount with cultural passport, Lagoa Social card or Rota do Petisco 2023 Passport, available at ticket offices in the Municipality of Lagoa).
