photography exhibition Faro (MFA) ends this Saturday

Until then, there is still a lot to see and reflect on.

The first edition of the Photography Exhibition of Faro (MFA), which brought 13 photography exhibitions to the capital of the Algarve region, among other initiatives, will end on Saturday, the 25th, but not before starting a reflection on domestic violence, the war in Ukraine and the crisis migration in the Mediterranean.

Today, the 23rd, from 18:30 pm, the ETIC_Algarve auditorium, at the Municipal Market of Faro, welcome the debate “Domestic Violence: Here A Man Killed A Woman”, a free entry initiative, open to the general public.

This conversation «has as its starting point the exhibition with the same title by photojournalist José Carlos Carvalho, which can be visited outside the Fábrica da Cerveja and revisits a report for Visão magazine, which toured the country from north to south, guiding by places and stories of murdered women, victims of domestic violence, and gives us a portrait of a country painted with pain, in the last decade», according to the exhibition organizers.

This panel also includes representatives from institutions that work in the area of ​​Gender Equality and Victim Support.

On Friday, 24 November, also in the ETIC_Algarve auditorium, photographic projects about migrants in the Mediterranean, by Reuters photographer Darrin Zammit-Luppi, and about the Russian-Ukrainian War, by photographers from the EPA agency, will be shown from 18pm onwards. , as well as the documentary “Look/See Gérard, Photographer”, directed by Fernando Lopes.

On the closing day, Saturday, November 25th, between 14pm and 00pm, the Author Market will take place, «with books, photographs and a conversation with authors Nuno de Santos Loureiro and João Barrinha, moderated by Susana Paiva».

The closing party starts at 19pm, with the projection of photographs and music.

The exhibitions can be visited on Thursday and Friday, between 15pm and 00pm and on Saturday between 19am and 00pm. All events are free and open entry.

In addition to these exhibitions, the Photography Exhibition of Faro Since its inception on October 21st, it has featured the «projection of projects with the best-known photographers in the Algarve, book presentations, debates, documentary screenings and the Author Market, with books and photographs.

The core of the event was the Fábrica da Cerveja, but the party also took place on other “stages”.

The 1st edition of the Photography Exhibition of Faro was organized by the CC11 association in partnership with the Municipality of Faro, ETIC Algarve and Galeria Santa Maria Maior, with the organization already planning the second edition in 2024.
