The Albufeira City Council inaugurated on Sunday, the 5th, «one of the best skate ramps in the country», in Parque Vale de Faro.
The ramp, a mini half-pipe, «is intended for extreme sports, skateboarding, bmx, inline and scooters, and is already considered one of the best in the country, measuring 1,8 meters high, 7,5 meters wide and 10 meters long, occupying a total area of about 75 square meters.
The infrastructure was installed next to the area where the “3×3 BasketArt” fields and the 5-a-side football field were recently opened.
The project resulted from a partnership between the Municipality of Albufeira and the Parish Council of Albufeira and Olhos de Água, being «part of the strong commitment to promoting sport and healthy youth», according to José Carlos Rolo, president of the Municipal Council of Albufeira.
«This project enriches the municipality's sports infrastructure, which helps to consolidate Albufeira's candidacy for European City of Sports».
The president of the Parish Council of Albufeira and Olhos de Água, Indaleta Cabrita, highlighted, for her part, that that space must be enhanced and valued by everyone.
Cristiano Cabrita, vice-president of the municipality, highlighted the importance of building the ramp, «since it allows the practice of various activities for young people of all ages, allowing access to informal sports and contributing to well-being and the health of new generations”».
This is, he continued, «a space open to the public and freely accessible throughout the year, reinforcing our conviction in the democratization of sporting activity».
The new space is open to all practitioners of different sports, «guaranteeing young people from Albufeira, and beyond, a space where they can practice and enjoy their favorite sports every day of the year. It will also be the stage for several regular initiatives, such as competitions, practitioner meetings and experimental actions», concluded the Albufeira Chamber.
