50 scientists will spread knowledge at the Centro Ciência Viva do Algarve

Within the scope of Science and Technology Week 2023

Five dozen scientists will visit the Centro Ciência Viva do Algarve, in Faro, during Science and Technology Week 2023, in the afternoons of November 21st to 25th, and organize more than 25 free activities.

The program, designed for both school and general audiences, is aimed at «those who are curious about the science that is developed with the partners of the Centro Ciência Viva do Algarve. Scientists will be represented from four research centers at the University of Algarve who will showcase their work through experiments, games or interactive lectures», according to CCV do Algarve.

On the afternoons of the 21st and 24th of November, the III Marine Science Fair of the Center for Marine Science (CCMAR) and the Center for Marine and Environmental Research (CIMA) will take place, in which «classes or families will be able to attend and participate in small experiments and demonstration activities on the different ways of studying the Ocean and important issues such as climate change, conservation, pollution and marine resources. From the 1st to the 3rd cycle, we have activities suitable for all years».

On the 22nd and 23rd, it will be hosted by scientists from the Algarve Biomedical Center (ABC), who will leave their laboratories to publicize their work, «transmitting and disseminating the culture of research and development, in which they contribute to training highly qualified professionals. qualified and differentiated in the field of Biomedicine».

On November 25th, there will be an afternoon of archeology, hosted by the Interdisciplinary Center for the Archeology and Evolution of Human Behavior (ICArEHB), with conversations with scientists and hands-on activities for everyone.

At 17pm on November 00th, as part of the celebrations of the National Scientific Cultural Day, the Illustrated and Creative Notebook will be launched, co-produced by Urban Sketcher Algarve and the Centro Ciência Viva do Algarve with support for the edition from the Regional Directorate of Culture of the Algarve.
