Conferences of the Algarve Museum Network debate challenges of Intangible Cultural Heritage

Meeting will bring together experts from across the country

“Challenges of Intangible Cultural Heritage: Communities, Sustainability and Diversity” is the motto of the 6th edition of the Algarve Museum Network Days, which will take place on November 17th, at FISSUL, in Silves.

Taking a critical look at the 20 years of the UNESCO Convention for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage (2003 – 2023) and reflecting on the challenges facing museums, in their relationship with communities, from a multiple national, regional and local perspective are the main objectives of these days.

The meeting will bring together experts from across the country linked not only to the municipal and museum sectors, but also to the university community and the General Directorate of Cultural Heritage, among others.

According to the organization, a “unique debate will be promoted on the challenges facing Cultural and Intangible Heritage (PCI), in its most diverse aspects”.

“The institutional framework and policies relating to PCI” will not be forgotten, as well as “the sustainability of PCI manifestations and the role of communities in safeguarding; the relationship between the PCI and tourism», ending with a round table that will discuss the realities and experiences of the PCI in the Algarve.

The registration period runs until November 15th, which must be made on the Municipality of Silves website, clicking here.

The 6th Journeys of the Algarve Museum Network are an initiative promoted by the Algarve Museum Network, Municipality of Silves and Municipal Museum of Archeology of Silves.
