São Brás de Alportel represents Algarve at the Serralves Autumn Festival

The Serra de São Brás, with its nucleus in Parises, is part of the Aldeias de Portugal route

The municipality of São Brás de Alportel will be present at the Serralves Autumn Festival, which takes place this weekend, in Porto, representing the Portuguese villages located in the Algarve.

This year, the Serralves Autumn Festival is attended by the “Villages of Portugal” and will welcome the villages that are part of this brand/project that showcases the heritage of the villages classified by their genuineness to the rural core of the Park.

Between 10am and 00pm, Serralves Park welcomes visitors free of charge who will purchase postcards depicting the “villages of Portugal” to send to friends and family in the most diverse corners of the country.

Over the two days, each village will present its potential and interest. São Brás de Alportel will participate on Sunday with a crafts and identity exhibition.

The Serralves Autumn Festival aims to raise public awareness of environmental sustainability, rural culture and agricultural experience, so there are other proposals on the heritage of the “Villages of Portugal”.

Rounding off the “Autumn Festival” will be two initiatives related to a tradition that UNESCO recognized in 2019 as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity: the caretos of Podence and the masks they use in the Entrudo Chocalheiro of this “Village of Portugal” , located in Macedo de Cavaleiros.
