All São Brasenses have family doctor coverage in the municipality of São Brás de Alportel, the City Council announced today.
This results, according to the municipality, from the work carried out in partnership between the Regional Health Administration – Algarve (ARS) and the Municipal Council of São Brás de Alportel.
At the end of the recruitment period for General and Family Medicine doctors, the São Brás de Alportel Health Center, integrated into the ACES – Central Group of Health Centers, managed to fill the available vacancies for family doctors and reinforce the provision of health care. proximity health that now covers the entire São Brasense community.
Local users with a recently assigned doctor should, if necessary, go to the service desks at the São Brás de Alportel Health Center to request information and/or make appointments, every working day, as well as on weekends between 09:00 and 15:00.
The information is also available online, by consulting the process in the National Health Service application.
This is «a response long demanded by the municipality, and which has now been made possible by filling available vacancies at the São Brás de Alportel Health Center, whose improvements have contributed to attracting more health professionals», assures the Municipality.
For Mayor Vitor Guerreiro, “the preference for São Brás de Alportel is linked to the quality of life that the municipality offers, the planned investments and the expressed desire on the part of the municipality and ARS Algarve for a significant improvement in the response of the National Health Service to the populations. This is an excellent example of this dynamic and joint work in favor of the public cause and the well-being of the population”.
Later this year, conservation and improvement works are expected to begin on the São Brás de Alportel Health Center building, an investment of more than 300 thousand euros, resulting from an application submitted and approved, within the scope of the Recovery and Resilience “Requalify or adapt buildings to increase energy efficiency, comply with contingency plans and/or ensure accessibility, safety and comfort for users and professionals”.
The intervention, awarded to the company GJB Eletrokonstroi, aims to improve the working conditions of professionals and healthcare services provided to the population, through the rehabilitation of the Health Center building and functional reorganization of the space, infrastructure improvements, installation of an elevator and energy efficiency.
In this context and with the aim of continuing to attract more health professionals and guarantee the evolution of health services provided to São Brasenses, the City Council presented an application to the CRESC Algarve 2020 Program for the construction of a building for the Health Unit Family from São Brás de Alportel.
This will represent an investment by the municipality in the order of 1.750.000 euros, 60% supported by the CRESC Algarve 2020 Program, scheduled to start in 2024.
This project is the result of a partnership between the municipality and the Algarve Regional Health Administration, IP (ARS) and the National Emergency and Civil Protection Authority (ANEPC).
Improvements in the area of health are part of the priority axes of the Municipality of São Brás de Alportel, which views the quality of life and well-being of the population as «determining factors in the development of the municipality».
