Here comes another Loulé History Meeting

On the 1rd and 2th of September

The VI History Meeting of Loulé starts tomorrow, September 1st, and ends on Saturday, the 2nd, at the Auditorium of the Convent of Espírito Santo. 

The Municipal Archive of Loulé – Professor Joaquim Romero Magalhães presents a meeting with several communications on different themes and chronological periods, highlighting the inaugural lecture given by Professor Manuel Sílvio Conde, “Inhabiting Al'Uliyâ-Loulé and the extreme south of Portugal in the XI-XV centuries. Domestic structures and activities, between Muslims and Christians”.

The following panels are also part of the VI Meeting: “Architecture and City”, “Archeology and Entities”, “Society, Economy and Territory”, “Individuals, Economy and Defense” and “Institutions, Heritage and Experiences”.

The event ends with the release of the Proceedings of the III Loulé History Meeting, by Carlos Guardado da Silva.

On Saturday, cultural visits are planned to spaces such as the Islamic Baths, the Igreja Matriz de Loulé, the Cerro da Vila Archaeological Station and the exhibition “With your feet on the earth and your hands in the sea”, in the old fish market in Quarteira.

This Meeting constitutes yet another moment of deepening knowledge of local history and culture in the annual program of the Municipality of Loulé.
