Em resolution, but still in need of care to be fully resolved. This is the state of play of the fire that broke out on Saturday in São Teotónio and affected a total of 8400 hectares not only in the municipality of Odemira, but also in Aljezur and Monchique, where the flames ended up spreading.

At this moment, and already after the fire enters the resolution phase, around 10:30 am, «there is not much active flame» and «the little that exists is inside the burned perimeter», revealed moments ago Vítor Vaz Pinto, regional commander of Emergency and Algarve Civil Protection.

However, all care remains, as «we are going to have many reactivations throughout the day, not least because the wind turned to the North and Northwest», he said.

In this way, the «1050 operators, 320 vehicles, 11 ground machines and 15 aerial means, of which 10 are planes and the remaining 5 are helicopters» that remain in the theater of operations «will remain on the ground» in the coming days and they will be demobilized gradually, whenever “the conditions for this are created”.

This is because the situation is still worrying and there is little attention: «at any moment we can have a variable that we did not calculate and the situation can change radically».

Vítor Vaz Pinto also updated the affected area, which was «of 8400 hectares», in a perimeter of «50 kilometers».

At this time, Municipal Road 501 and Municipal Path 1186 remain cut.

The Algarve regional commander also updated the number of people assisted, which rose to 42, of which "9 went to the hospital, but for mild situations". From yesterday to today, “seven more people were assisted, one of whom was transported to a hospital unit”.

The fire will have "affected some houses, I'm not sure if it's a 1st house or a holiday home", added Vaz Pinto, who adds that "the survey is now being carried out by the municipal services and the GNR".

As for Turismo Rural Teima, near Vale Juncal, whose owner complained that, despite her insistent requests, she never received any help from the fire department and ended up burning everything down, the same person in charge admitted that «in an area of interest like this, with a 50 kilometer perimeter, there will have been situations that went less well».
