Capicua returns to Silves to present its Lado B

Tickets are now on sale

Capicua is the next guest of the Lado B initiative, which will take place at the Teatro Mascarenhas Gregório on the 22nd of September, at 21 pm.

Capicua was born in Porto in the 80s, discovers the culture Hip Hop in the 90s (first for Grafitti and then for music), going from being a mere listener to becoming an apprentice rapper in the 2000s. A sociologist by training, she considers herself a rapper militant and is known for her excellent, emotional and politically engaged writing.

Tickets for the show, which cost 10 euros, can be purchased through BOL online box office and at the usual points of sale (FNAC, Worten, CTT, EI Corte Inglês and Youth Hostels).

They can also be purchased on the day of the show, at the venue, from 20 pm, if there is a ticket office available.

The Lado B section, promoted by the Municipality of Silves, seeks to present the public with a more relaxed and intimate version of the artists. The concert, as a rule, is associated with a brief conversation as a way of bringing the public closer to the artist.

Who is Capicua?

With a vast discography, he already has a solid path in the Portuguese-speaking music scene: two mixtapes (Capicua Goes Preemo – 2008 and Capicua Goes West – 2013), three self-titled albums and a remix album (capicua - 2012, mad mermaid – 2014, Medusa – 2015 and Mother of pearl – 2020), an EP (Still – 2021), two book-discs for children in partnership with Pedro Geraldes (green hand in 2016 and in 2022 also with Francisca Cortesão and António Serginho), a Luso-Brazilian record shared with Emicida, Rael and Valete (lingua franca - 2017).

In the last decade, he has added intense and participated concerts, conquering a very diverse audience and critical recognition, not only in our country, but in some international incursions (Brazil, Spain, France, Mexico, among others).

An apologist for the collaborative and interventional spirit typical of Hip Hop culture, he has worked with several artists (from Sérgio Godinho to Sara Tavares), and participated in several conferences, workshops and social projects (such as OUPA, in which he worked between 2015 and 2018 by invitation of Porto City Council).

He also has an acclaimed career as a lyricist (for performers such as Gisela João, Aline Frazão, Ana Bacalhau, Camané or Clã), his experience in writing for theater being recent (with the show “A Tralha” in 2021), his activity as a columnist at Revista Visão (2015-2021) and currently at Jornal de Noticias.

His first book, recently published, Aquarium ( Companhia das Letras, August 2022) – is a set of fluid words, which trigger drafts of songs, social criticism, flashes of hope, love and outbursts.
