Praia dos Pescadores, in Albufeira, was the stage chosen to host the Beach Volleyball and Footvolley finals, on the 3rd and 9th of September, at 14 pm.
The Sports Summer program began during the month of July and in the last two months four stages of Beach Volleyball have been played, and this Saturday, September 3rd, the Final will take place with the presence of the best male and female pairs.
In the female doubles, the stages were dominated by Margarida Cruz/ Carolina Carmo, with two victories, having
Carolina also won the different stages with other partners.
In Men's, José Lopes won two stages with different partners, highlighting the duo Tomás Ribeiro / Miguel.
The Footvolley Final will take place on the 9th of September. This will be the Final Tournament traditionally called “Campeão da Praia”, with participation open to all.
In the 1st Tournament, the duo Zé / Diogo won with a surprise, and in the others, it was the duo Alexandre Oliveira / Ricardo Pereira who achieved 1st place on the podium.
José Carlos Rolo, mayor of Albufeira, states that «sport is increasingly one of the
concerns of the Municipality not only because of the importance it has for the development of the younger layers of the
population, but also for the values and culture that are enhanced through these informal education and training mechanisms».
The mayor also underlines the importance of these events for promoting the municipality across borders.
Cristiano Cabrita, councilor responsible for Sports and Youth, referred that «organising, developing and
supporting national competitions and tournaments, like the one we have here, is unequivocal proof that Albufeira is
prepared with the means, infrastructure and human resources to receive these initiatives, fundamental to
boost sports tourism".
