A “Transformation” that can be seen at Palácio Gama Lobo

Entry is free

The “Transformation” textile exhibition, which brings together a collective of eight artists, will be on display from the 4th of August to the 28th of October at Palácio Gama Lobo, headquarters of Loulé Criativo.

There will be gathered works by Vasco Águas, also curator of the exhibition, Ana Rita de Albuquerque, Filipa Won, Graça Paz, Guida Fonseca, Maria Pratas, Rita Teles Garcia and Rita Sevilha.

And, in perfect alignment with the premises of the first part, “Transformation” takes place «as part of the growth and maturation of our creative process, as artists who have been exploring textiles in its most varied and multifaceted forms, whether through technique, material or process, as the main form of expression of our artistic practices», says Vasco Águas.

The motto for this group exhibition comes from a quote by Anni Albers about weaving and on which it is worth reflecting: «weaving is an example of a multifaceted craft».

«In addition to surface qualities, such as rough and smooth, dull and shiny, hard and soft, it also includes color and, as a dominant element, texture, which is the result of fabric construction. Like any craft, it can end in the production of useful objects or it can rise to the level of art », he says.

The exhibition can be visited from Monday to Friday, from 9:00 am to 18:00 pm, and on Saturdays, from 9:00 am to 13:00 pm. Closed on Sunday and holidays. Admission is free.
