Seniors from Clube Avô celebrated in Albufeira

The event served to showcase the work developed throughout the year

Dozens of elderly people from the four parishes of Albufeira held the closing party of another academic year at Clube Avô, at the Multipurpose Space in Albufeira, on Thursday, June 29th.

The event «allowed users of Clube Avô to demonstrate the activities carried out throughout the 2022/2023 school year», according to the Albufeira Chamber, which promoted the interaction.

“The Singing Group and the Dances of the World, Gymnastics, Yoga and Computers classes passed through the stage”.

Also highlighted was the ECOS project of Santa Casa da Misericórdia, carried out in partnership with Clube Avô, which «developed two activities during the year with the seniors enrolled in the program, namely “Art and Therapy and Artistic Exploration” and “Gender Conversations”. ”».

For José Carlos Rolo, mayor of Albufeira, José Carlos Rolo, said that «this is also a form of education, through different moments and activities that encourage the development of the senior population, valuing physical progression and enhancing longevity».

The mayor also stressed the good work of the technicians in welcoming and motivating the senior population.

Cláudia Guedelha, councilor responsible for Social Action, thanked the working group, underlining the importance of «the support and collaboration of technicians and partners to develop such a rich set of activities, extremely important for active, healthy and integral aging of the population".

Clube Avô offers citizens aged 65 and over the possibility of experiencing different activities, taking into account their needs and expectations, promoting healthy conviviality and moments of sharing between participants.

In addition to the regular activities promoted by the project, Clube Avô supports seniors through some social action measures. The program ends during the months of July and August, but enrollment for the new academic year reopens in September.
