Military reinforce forest surveillance in the municipality of Tavira

The objective is to «reinforce mountain surveillance as a fire prevention action»

Forest surveillance in the municipality of Tavira will be reinforced, until September, with the help of soldiers from Infantry Regiment nº 1. 

The aim is to "reinforce mountain vigilance as a fire prevention action, the defense of the forest and the maintenance of living conditions for local populations".

According to the Câmara de Tavira, it will be incumbent upon «the Infantry Regiment nº 1 to carry out land and, occasionally, air patrols, inform the Regional Civil Protection Command (CREPC) of the Algarve and the Municipal Civil Protection Service (SMPC) of Tavira of the start and end of the surveillance patrol, as well as any incident worthy of recording».

By signing this protocol, the city council takes another step towards the implementation of preventive measures against the occurrence of rural fires, based on the national strategy of policies and programs in the area of ​​civil protection, the safety of the population and its assets, as well as of the Forest Fire Defense Plan.
