There are doctors, nurses and other health professionals, firefighters and police, as well as an enclosure and camping area with safety conditions verified by a wide range of entities. There are also more and more motorcyclists coming to Vale das Almas, in Faro, for the 41st edition of the International Motorcycle Club Concentration Faro, which officially started today and lasts until Sunday.
This year, a great novelty is that there is only a camping area on the south side of the road that connects the road between Gago Coutinho Airport and Praia de Faro to the enclosure, which was dimensioned in such a way as to "receive 15 thousand people, maybe a little more, if necessary", revealed Armando Serro, leader of the Motoclube de Faro, at the traditional press conference to launch the event, which took place this morning.
«We were surprised by the large number of people who arrived yesterday. It's a good sign if people are spaced out. Anyone who wants to come is welcome », he added.
There will also be a 24/24 bus service, until 8:00 am on Sunday, connecting not only the city to Vale das Almas, but also the enclosure to the crab roundabout, at the top of the access road to the bridge to Praia de Faro.
As for the musical line-up, the Germans Guano Apes (Saturday, the 22nd), the Spaniards La Frontera (Friday, the 21st), and the Portuguese Cuca Roseta and Expensive Soul (Saturday, the 22nd), without forgetting the Algarve “Entre Aspas” (Friday, 21st).
Today, Thursday, the Break Free, a Queen tribute band, and the One Love Band take to the stage. The poster is complete with Hybrid Theory, Linkin Park's tribute formation, which will perform tomorrow, Friday.
Moreover, «everything was prepared in detail», to safeguard «unexpected circumstances that we always hope will never happen», according to Rogério Bacalhau, mayor of Faro, also present at the press conference.
One of the elements that differentiate this event is the existing field hospital in the venue, which has «basic and advanced life support» and nine inpatient beds, among other facilities, and where «150 people» work on a voluntary basis, including which "35 doctors of various specialties" and "40 nurses".
To get an idea of the importance of this infrastructure, in 2022, of the 417 people who were assisted, only 12 situations required transfer to a hospital unit.
Another important aspect, bearing in mind that this event is held in a pine forest area, in the heart of the Ria Formosa Natural Park, is the prevention and response capacity in case of fire.
This dimension is guaranteed by a body of 68 firefighters from the Motoclube de Faro, supported by Sapadores Firefighters from Faro. There are also fire hydrants scattered around the enclosure.
The security device also has elements from the GNR and the PSP, from INEM and the Red Cross and a Civil Protection command post, where there is “a liaison officer for all the forces involved”.
